This is my newest adventure.  Painting with fusible paints prior to fusing.  The paint cures at 1500 degrees.  Each piece is an original.  Many of the glasses change during firing as well leaving a little unpredictability with each piece.  Visit my Fused Glass Section to see more of these interesting new pieces.

Dinner For Two

This original oil depicts a pair of Bohemian Waxwings sharing berries in the colorful branches of a mountain ash tree. The yard I grew up in had a large mountain ash that filled with waxwings in the fall. The birds gorged themselves on fermenting berries causing them to become intoxicated. Several times a week we went onto the front porch to free the birds who inadvertently flew in the open side and became trapped.

Two at Low 8

This pheasant hunting scene is based on the perfect round of regulation skeet. After eight stations, if the shooter hasn’t missed a shot he finishes with a second shot from the low house at station 8. This is referred to as “Two at Low 8.” The hunter in this painting has one in the bag and needs these two roosters for a perfect day.

Wake Up Call

This original oil depicts a mature bull elk and two cows. The mountain in the background is the “Sleeping Giant” which lies on the horizon approximately 25 miles north of Helena near the Gates of the Mountains.

Paintbrush clouds drift in the azure sky,
The morning sun kisses the giant’s sleeping face.
In the valley below, a bull elk and his harem
feast on nature’s harvest.

As the forest awakens to greet the new day,
the proud bull issues a wake up call;
Undisturbed, the giant sleeps on.
